FACEBOOK complaints against Ireland
A group of users called "EUROPE VERSUS FACEBBOK" filed 22 complaints with the authority controls the processing of personal data against Irish FACEBOOK (headquartered in Europe is located in Ireland).
The various arguments advanced by these complaints are:
"- The Pokes are retained even after being deleted by the user.
- Facebook data collection about people without their being aware. This information is used to substitute for existing profiles and create profiles of people not using Facebook.
- Tags can be used without the express consent of the person concerned. Users must "détaguer" themselves (opt out).
(Info: Facebook announced changes on this point).
- Facebook is collecting personal data about other users, for example through synchronization with a smartphone or the search feature friends from contacts of a mailbox. This information is used by Facebook without the agreement of those concerned.
- The comments that we think erased actually appear in the data can be obtained from Facebook.
- Users can not know the settings mailing items to place on the pages of other users.
- The messages, including the cat, remain stored by Facebook, even if the user has deleted. This means that no communication "direct" held on Facebook can not be erased.
- The privacy statement is vague, unclear and contradictory. If Irish and European standards are taken literally, consent to the policy of preserving privacy as Facebook sees it is not valid.
- A new face recognition is a violation of the right to privacy of users. The knowledge and consent of the real users are absent.
- Requests for access to the data are not complete. Several categories of information are missing.
- The marks (or "tags") that were deleted by the user are in fact hidden. They remain stored on servers.
- In terms of his contract, Facebook says it is no guarantee as to the level of data protection.
- Applications of friends are able to access user data. There is no guarantee that applications comply with European standards of privacy.
- Friendships are recorded deleted by Facebook.
- Facebook hosts a very large amount of data, it processes its only advantage. It seems that Facebook is a blatant example of "excessive data processing" illegal.
- Facebook employs a system of "opt-in" (features enabled by default), instead of a system of "opt-out" (subscription choices for different features), required by European law.
- The like button allows you to keep track of users on the Internet. There is no legitimate purpose in creating such a database. Users have never consented to such use.
- Facebook is obliged to use some of the data it receives as a service provider "cloud data". Thus, it does not have the right to use or store the data from other services, unless the user requests it.
- The suggested settings only allow to limit the display of the link to the image to some users and not displaying the image itself. The image itself is accessible to everyone on the Internet. This bypasses the settings easily.
- When you delete an image, in fact Facebook does not delete the link to this picture. The images are published on the Internet for some time (more than 32 hours).
- Users can be added to groups without their consent. Users may well find themselves unwillingly into groups that can lead others to make a false impression of them.
- The usage rules change very frequently, but users are informed nor that they be asked for their consent to such changes. "
(Info: agreement between Facebook and the American authority on this point to limit changes to the rules of use).
